Big World Jobs: a job board for every country, built from scratch

I started Big World Jobs in September 2026. It is a free job board for every country that lists remote, hybrid and on site roles taken from each employer's own careers page.
It is my own project, separate from the consultancy. It does not sell paid media services, but it is where I applied, from scratch, almost everything I fix in client accounts before any money goes into ads.
The challenge
Remote is one of the most misleading labels in a job search. Many roles advertised as remote only accept people who live in one country, and most job boards ignore on site and hybrid work outside the United States.
The idea was simple to state and hard to build: show every role the way the employer wrote it, saying how and where the work happens, with no sign up, no fee for candidates and no roles that have already closed.
What I did
I planned and launched the whole site, from reading the roles to measuring the visits.
The roles. Each role is read from the employer's careers page and classified by work mode, location, language and field, across 27 fields. Salary only appears when the employer publishes it. A role leaves the site when the employer stops listing it, never because of its age.
The pages. There are pages by country, city, field and employer, and local language pages for Germany, Brazil and Portugal. Search comes with suggestions, filters, new role alerts and a paid job post at US$ 99 for 30 days, approved by hand.
The search structure. Ordinary job pages stay out of Google's index, because they disappear within days. Country, city and employer pages and the guides go in, as long as they have enough roles. The site has structured data, a sitemap, an llms.txt file and a public statistics file.
The measurement. GA4 through Google Tag Manager, with custom events for role views, apply clicks, searches and alerts. Consent for ads is always denied, consent for analytics starts denied in Europe, the UK and Switzerland, and internal and bot traffic is flagged separately.
The paid media. I set up tests on Google Ads and Meta Ads for one specific theme, funded courses in Germany, with a landing page of its own.
What went wrong and how I fixed it
Early on, crawlers were requesting hundreds of pages a minute. I handled it with robots.txt rules, a crawl delay and caching.
On October 14 the site was down for about 20 minutes, because the end of a large read of roles was locking the database. I added a write queue, wait limits and a monitor that restarts the service when it stops responding.
On October 13, impressions on Google fell. I read the drop as the end of the trial period Google gives a new domain, with no penalty and no server cause, and answered by making the pages stronger: I removed employer pages with no content, merged duplicate employers, put real dates in the sitemap and added internal links.
The numbers
The site publicly lists more than 600,000 roles from more than 8,000 employers in more than 150 countries. Tens of thousands are remote or hybrid, and most are on site. The exact numbers are in the site's public statistics file and change every day.
The domain dates from September 2026 and is still building authority, so audience numbers will wait until there is a history to show.
What this project shows
For anyone hiring for paid media, the part that matters most is the foundation: measurement planned before the first campaign, a consent rule, events that track what matters and pages Google can read. That is what I look to fix before investing in ads on any account.
The site is at bigworldjobs.com.
