Audit

A PPC audit from someone with no incentive to flatter you

Most free audits are sales documents. They find enough problems to justify a proposal and stop there. This is a paid, fixed-scope review that ends with a prioritised list of fixes, and you own it whether or not you ever hire me.

The Problem

What an audit usually uncovers

Different accounts, remarkably consistent problems.

Conversions counted more than once

The same lead firing as a form submit, a thank-you pageview and a phone call. Your reported CPA is fiction, and every bidding decision inherits that error.

Search terms nobody has read in months

The search terms report is where wasted spend hides in plain sight. In neglected accounts it is routinely a double-digit share of budget going to queries that will never convert.

Structure built for the tool, not the business

Campaigns organised by keyword match type or by whoever built them, rather than by margin, service line or geography, which is what you actually make decisions on.

Automation left on defaults

Broad match with Smart Bidding and no negatives, or Performance Max with no brand exclusion, quietly spending your budget on demand you already had.

What You Get

What the audit covers

Delivered as a written document with findings ranked by impact, not a slide deck.

Measurement first

Conversion actions, deduplication, GA4 and tag manager configuration, attribution settings. If this layer is wrong, nothing below it can be trusted, so it gets checked before anything else.

Wasted spend, quantified

Search terms, placements, audiences and geography reviewed with an actual number attached to what is being wasted, not a vague claim that there is waste.

Structure and bidding review

Whether the account is organised around how your business makes money, and whether the bid strategies match the volume of conversion data you actually have.

Landing page and conversion path

The part most audits skip because the auditor cannot fix it. Speed, message match, form friction and what happens after the submit.

A prioritised fix list

Ranked by impact against effort, with the handful of things worth doing this month separated from the nice-to-haves. Written so your team can execute it without me.

Plenty of people take the audit, implement it in house, and never hire me for anything else. That is a legitimate outcome and the document is written to make it possible.

Proof

What I have actually run

Some engagements have verified public numbers. Others are longer-running or confidential roles where I can speak to scope and approach but not exact percentages. I would rather show you the real mix than invent a case study.

Mission AC & Plumbing, Houston, TX

44%CPA Reduction
60%More Qualified Leads

Roughly $20K per month in Google Ads spend, in a market with $45 to $80 CPCs.

Healthcare, in-house

Five years in the sector

Alongside consulting I hold a senior in-house paid media role in healthcare. Nothing from that work is published anywhere on this site: no employer named, no budgets, no results, no internal detail. It is listed only because it is where a large part of my healthcare experience comes from.

How It Works

How the audit runs

1

Access

Read-only access to Google Ads, GA4 and tag manager. Nothing gets changed.

2

Review

I go through the account, the measurement layer and the conversion path in detail.

3

Document

Written findings with the waste quantified and fixes ranked by impact.

4

Walkthrough

A call to go through it, so your team can act on it whether or not I stay involved.

What Is Different

What makes this audit different from a free one

  • It ends in a prioritized list of fixes with the expected impact of each, which you can hand to anyone.
  • It is priced as a project, so the recommendations are not shaped by a retainer waiting at the end.
  • Every finding is tied to a number in the account, not to a best-practice checklist.
Who It Is For

Who this service fits

Accounts spending real money where the owner suspects waste.

  • Companies changing agencies and needing an independent read before they sign.
  • Teams that want a prioritized fix list, not a sales pitch disguised as an audit.

Not a fit: Brand new accounts with no history to audit.

FAQ

Audit questions

Do you offer a free audit?

No, and I would treat a free one with suspicion. A free audit is a sales asset, so it is built to find just enough to justify the pitch. Charging for it is what lets me tell you the account is fine, which does sometimes happen.

What access do you need?

Read-only on Google Ads, GA4 and Google Tag Manager. I do not need to change anything to audit it, and I do not want the ability to.

How long does it take?

Usually about a week from access to walkthrough, depending on account size and how many platforms are in scope.

What if you find nothing wrong?

Then I tell you that and you have paid for certainty, which is worth something when you are about to increase budget. It is rare but it happens, usually in accounts already run by someone competent.
